Course Description:

 Before participating in a lifeboat drill or real emergency, crew members must be rigorously trained in the lifeboat release and retrieval system’s operation, ensure they are fully aware of the potential hazards, along with the precise sequence of actions required for a successful launch and recovery of lifeboat. A thorough understanding equips crew members with a shared mental model of the procedure, empowering them to recognize and challenge any actions that stray from correct protocol, thereby enhancing safety and reducing risk.

     By the end of this course, you should be able to:

·    Define the lifeboat, release mechanisms, and retrieval systems on your vessel. 

·    Operate the Fall Preventer Devices (FPD’s) without exception during drills and maintenance. 

·   Implement the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) guidelines, as well as your vessel’s Flag Administration,                     manufacturer, and company-specific protocols. 

·     Use your best effort in every drill as if it is a real emergency. 

·     Demonstrate personal responsibility.
