Author: onelearn
Duration: 60 minutes

Course Overview

Training required for:

All Deck & Engine Officer working on Chemical Tankers

Course Description:

This course highlights and enhances task compliance for all crew members, particularly Officers.

Chemical tanker cargo operations differ significantly from other liquid bulk transportation. Daily duties are often complex, as many cargoes with different properties, characteristics, and inherent hazards may be carried simultaneously on a single voyage. Numerous products may be handled at one berth, typically involving both discharge and loading as well as tank cleaning. Even the less sophisticated chemical tankers are more demanding to operate than oil tankers.

The transportation of bulk chemicals requires not only hard work but also specialized crew training, both theoretical and practical. This course provides a solid understanding of the characteristics of various chemicals and raises awareness of the potential hazards involved in handling them safely.

This course is inspired by the IMO Model Course 1.04 – Advanced Training for Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations and uses it only as a reference framework. It has been developed as an introductory-level eLearning program, featuring a shorter duration and simplified structure compared to the full model course. The aim is to provide learners with a clear and accessible introduction to chemical tanker operations, focusing on key principles, safety practices, and essential operational knowledge in a flexible digital format.
