This is a refresher course for deck officers in the theory and practice of radar set-up and ARPA display modes. Following a recap on the principles of radar theory it will take the learner through a step-by-step guide on good practice for setting up the radar. It will then focus on the different display modes available to the Officer of the Watch and the considerations when setting a radar up for collision avoidance.

Finally the learner will examine the information that can be presented on an ARPA display and best practice for radar observation when on watch at sea.
