Communicable Disease Prevention and Response Onboard – Advanced Training for Management. This training module has been developed in compliance with the requirements of the 3rd Edition of the European Manual for Hygiene Standards and Communicable Disease Surveillance on Passenger Ships, Chapter 2.0 – Communicable Disease Surveillance (Guideline II – Prevention and control of gastroenteritis on passenger ships).

In this module, we will explore how communicable disease surveillance contributes to maintaining a safe and healthy shipboard environment. You will gain an overview of how illness activity may be monitored, how situational awareness is maintained, and how shipboard teams support coordinated health protection practices.

Throughout the module, we will also briefly examine how surveillance information support operational awareness and management coordination, when health situations begin to evolve onboard.
