Course Description: 

This training course is designed to enhance the skills of onboard Assessors (Senior Officers) in the seafarer assessment process. Trainees will be introduced to various methods of evaluating seafarer proficiency on board, gaining practical experience under the supervision of an experienced shipboard Assessor. The course addresses the challenges of assessing competence in the unique environment of a vessel, ensuring effective and consistent evaluation of crew performance. 

Target Audience:

Any Senior Officer or any individual who conducts assessments of a seafarer’s competence on board and possesses sufficient onboard experience is eligible.   

 

Learning objectives: 

At the end of the training course the participant shall: 

• Execute the Assessor’s responsibilities. 
• Develop a suitable assessment package. 
• Apply the provisions for shipboard crew training and assessment. 
• Use relevant assessment methods.  
• Implement and conduct Onboard Assessments.  
• Apply the international provisions in national regulations.
