Course Overview

Course Description:

This training is aimed at seafarers and persons who have interactions with seafarers, and are in a role which influences seafarers’ recruitment, wellbeing and life on board. This includes shipowners, operators and maritime shore-based personnel. 

 

Through this training, participants will learn about work-cultures which reduce the likelihood of sexual harassment, learn to identify sexual harassment and understand its impact on crew and the daily operations of a vessel. They will also learn what to do if they experience or witness sexual harassment. 

 

Sexual Harassment training is mandatory under the STCW Convention as of January 2026 for all seafarers.

Learning objectives:

At the end of the training course the participant shall: 

  • Analyse situations and recognise sexual harassment 
  • Understand the conditions that make the maritime context more at risk than others 
  • Analyse common sexual harassment myths 
  • Understand who is more likely to be a target of sexual harassment 
  • Remember how to report sexual harassment
