Course Overview

Course Description:

This course fulfils the mandatory training requirements for Masters, Officers, Ratings, and other personnel serving aboard passenger ships engaged in international voyages, as stipulated by Regulation V/2, paragraph 9 of the STCW Convention, including the 2010 Manila Amendments. It aligns with the guidelines outlined in IMO Model Course 1.46 and adheres to the minimum standards specified in Section A-V/2, paragraph 5 of the STCW Code.

Training required for:

Passenger safety, cargo safety, and hull integrity training is required for Masters, Chief Engineers, Chief Mates, Second Engineers, Deck Officers, Marine Engineers, Ratings, and all other personnel on board who have direct responsibility for embarking and disembarking passengers, loading, discharging, or securing cargo, or closing hull openings on ro-ro passenger ships, as specified in Section A-V/2, paragraph 5 of the STCW Code.

Learning objectives:

1. Manage the loading and the discharging cargo operation.

2. To embark and disembark passengers, give special attention to persons needing assistance.

3. Implement extra protections, procedures, and restrictions for dangerous commodities on ro-ro passenger ships.

4. Follow and apply the regulation regarding the Code of Safe Practice for Cargo Stowage and Securing of Cargoes.

5. Use the stability and stress information correctly and calculate the vessel’s stability, trim, and stress.

6. Follow the ship’s procedures for opening, closing, and securing doors, ramps, and retractable vehicle decks must be correctly operated and applied.

7. Check the ro-ro deck atmosphere.

To successfully complete this STCW BMA accredited course, participants must:

  1. Successfully complete the course payment via the eShop.
  2. Submit the STCW Certificate Application Form.
  3. Achieve a minimum score of 70% on the final assessment (two attempts are allowed).
  4. Complete the authentication process to verify their identity.

The final assessment is monitored using Proctoring Tool to ensure compliance and integrity. Proctoring software supervises the assessment by:

  • Webcam monitoring identity verification,
  • Tracking browser and screen activity,
  • Detecting audio and application usage.

Any suspicious activity or failure to comply with these requirements may result in disqualification from the assessment, and the course will be considered failed. More details about the Proctoring procedure can be found inside the course.
