Course Overview

Course Description:

This interactive e-Learning course has been designed to provide participants with the understanding of Ship’s Safety Officers duties and responsibilities and existing legal requirements and guidelines such as ISM Code, Code of Safe Working Practices, LSA Code and FSS Code. The course provides basic familiarisation with Risk Management, Emergency Preparedness, maintenance of safety equipment and preparation for Port State Control inspections.

Target Audience:

All personnel designated to perform Safety Officer’s duties and responsibilities on board of ships

Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Bahamas Maritime Authority.

STCW A-II/2 and A-III/2, Code of Safe Working Practices (MCA), LSA Code, FSS Code.

   

To successfully complete this BMA accredited course, participants must:

  1. Successfully complete the course payment via the eShop.
  2. Submit the Certificate Application Form.
  3. Achieve a minimum score of 70% on the final assessment (two attempts are allowed).
  4. Complete the authentication process to verify their identity.

The final assessment is monitored using Proctoring Tool to ensure compliance and integrity. Proctoring software supervises the assessment by:

  • Webcam monitoring identity verification,
  • Tracking browser and screen activity,
  • Detecting audio and application usage.

Any suspicious activity or failure to comply with these requirements may result in disqualification from the assessment, and the course will be considered failed. More details about the Proctoring procedure can be found inside the course.
