Course Description:

  This microlearning module provides a quick and focused overview of mooring line inspections in line with MEG 4 guidelines. Learners will understand the basics of wire rope and mooring line inspections, types and frequency of required inspections, and the key criteria for discarding worn or damaged lines.

Learning objectives:

  At the end of the training course the participant shall:

·        Identify the purpose and scope of mooring line inspections under MEG4.

·        Describe the types and frequencies of inspections required by industry standards.

·        Recognise common causes of mooring line and wire rope failures.

·        Apply MEG4 discard criteria to determine when mooring lines should be retired.

·        Evaluate the condition of mooring lines using visual and non-destructive methods
