A programme of training approved by The Bahamas Maritime Authority and meeting the requirements laid down in Regulation VI/6.4 of The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978, as amended (STCW) and STCW Code Sec A- A-VI/6.6, 6.7, 6.8. This certificate is issued in accordance with the provisions of STCW Regulation Table A-VI /6-2. 

Target Audience:

Seafarers that have designated security duties are duties or tasks that have been assigned to the person and which are either included in the muster list, emergency plan, vessel’s Safety Management System (SMS), Ship Security Pan (SSP), job description or other shipboard documentation.

Learning objectives: 

At the end of the training course, the participant shall: 

1. Know the meaning and requirements of the different security levels 
2. Identify the international security conventions, codes and recommendations. 
3. Understand the different responsibilities as per the ship’s security plan  
4. Use available security equipment and systems. 
5. Know the emergency procedures and contingency plans. 
6. Recognize and detect illegal weapons and substances. 
7. Recognize, on a non-discriminatory basis, the characteristics and behavioral patterns of persons who are likely to threaten security.

To successfully complete this STCW-BMA accredited course, participants must:

1. Successfully complete the course payment via the eShop.
2. Submit the STCW Certificate Application Form.
3. Achieve a minimum score of 70% on the final assessment (two attempts are allowed).
4. Complete the authentication process to verify their identity.

The final assessment is monitored using Proctoring Tool to ensure compliance and integrity. Proctoring software supervises the assessment by:

• Webcam monitoring identity verification,
• Tracking browser and screen activity,
• Detecting audio and application usage.

Any suspicious activity or failure to comply with these requirements may result in disqualification from the assessment, and the course will be considered failed. More details about the Proctoring procedure can be found inside the course.
